Nestled within 6000ha of pristine malaria-free bushveld, Mziki Private Game Reserve boasts the presence of  “4 of the Big Five” and a diverse array of over 50 mammal species, along with an impressive collection of 372 bird species. It is widely regarded as one of South Africa’s premier birding destinations.

Werner Pallamar, an Austrian Mountain Climber who previously also climbed in the Himalaya mountains, embarked on an expedition through Africa in the year 1965, conquering all mountains of a higher altitude in Africa.  27 months later and back in Vienna he decided to immigrate to South Africa with one suitcase.

Being a great nature lover, he started to create the Mziki Private Game Reserve in 1981 with the first farm, which today is Mziki Private Nature Reserve . Werner’s wife Manuela and their two sons Philip and Christopher continue in his legacy.

Mziki Private Game Reserve has expanded over the decades with the addition of several farms, where private investors bought into the concept of preserving the land, and over time introducing more game species which always lived in this space.
